LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPISTS IN LAGOS
I woke up with interesting news that the Lagos
state deputy governor Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulie has advocated life
imprisonment for rapists and paedophiles to act as deterrence to people who have
found love in committing such crimes.
That’s not all oooo…she also advocated for
compulsory psychiatric test for rapists and paedophiles.
She affirmed that stiff penalties such as life
time jail terms without options of fine for the culprits will bring about drastic
reduction in rape cases not just in Lagos state alone but Nigeria at large.
I think this will be a good step in the
right direction, but I also hope that she will “work the talk” so that her
speech will not end at the event just like most speeches we hear from our
leaders every day.
THE QUESTION
Life imprisonment for rapists-YES; but what about those that steals
government money?
