NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT
RECRUITS TEACHERS FOR NOMADIC SCHOOLS
I guess most of us have
heard something like ‘The al majiri schools’ in the north East right? Now here
is another one called ‘The nomadic schools’. It’s an initiative of the Niger
state government to encourage nomads to be educated. And in a bid to strengthen
the system, the Niger state government is said to have commenced the
recruitment of 618 nomadic teachers to teach in the 274 nomadic schools spread across
the state.
According to the state
Governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu who made this known through the state commissioner
of Education, Mallam Danladi Abdulhameed, at the opening ceremony for the ‘Training
of Teachers in Nomadic schools on implementation of the of the Nomadic
Education Curriculum and Textual Materials’ for the North Central Zone in Minna
yesterday stated that the teachers were needed to meet the dearth of teachers
in the nomadic schools.
He also stated that the teachers
would be given special allowances to motivate them to accept their postings to
the rural areas.
THE QUESTION
So after secondary school, will there be a Nomadic
University too?
