The
Defence Head Quarters have declared missing an aircraft of the Nigerian Air force
in Adamawa. The director of defence information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade,
said in an electronic mail in the early hours of Sunday that
the aircraft, an
Alpha jet, has been missing since Friday, September 12, 2014.
Olukolade
said that the aircraft left Yola, the Adamawa state capital by 10.45 am on an
operational mission and was expected back to base by 12pm the same day but has
not been found. According to him, the aircraft had two pilots on board. The defence
spokesman further said that the military had started search and rescue efforts
meant to establish contact with the crew.
