KANO STATE JAIL 55 PEOPLE FOR TAKING
ALCOHOL
The Director General of the Kano state
Hisba Board, Alhaji Abba Sufi, told news men yesterday in Kano that 55 people
have been arrested and convicted for alcohol consumption in the state. He said
the 55 people who were arrested last week during raids of their hide outs were
sentenced to four months imprisonment without option of fine in order to serve
as deterrent to others who might contemplate doing same. Among those arrested
are 50 married men and 5 women. Sufi further said “even if we are not in the
month of Ramadan, nobody should take alcohol because the state is implementing ‘Sharia
Law’.
THE QUESTION
But
what have they done to the companies that sell alcohol in the state?
