GHANAIAN PRESIDENT SLASH HIS SALARY BY 10
PERCENT
It was in November 201 that the Ghanaian
finance minister Mr. Seth Terkper told the Ghanaian parliament that president
Mahama and his political appointees have volunteered to cut their salaries by
10 percent for the purpose of building community based health and planning
systems [CHIPS].
Interestingly, the salary cut took effect
from January 2014 and this month the finance minister has announced that the
exercise had yielded 327,363.69 as at the end of last month. Though the report
did not disclose the total earnings of the president and his appointees during
the period cited. Notwithstanding, I think the president should be commended
for this.
THE QUESTION
Can our president or legislators do such thing?
