GO WITH CHARMS TO THE POLLING BOOTHS-AREGBESOLA

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola
Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has tasked residents of the state to go to the polling booths on August 9, 2014 armed with charms and verses from the Quran and Bible.
The governor, who said this in Ikire on Tuesday during his campaign in the town, however, did not say what voters would use the charms and prayer verses for.
Speaking in Yoruba language, Aregbesola urged the people of the state to go out and cast their ballots and stay back until the result was announced to avoid rigging.
He described the Peoples Democratic Party as an assemblage of men who are promiscuous for asking young women to “dress to kill” while going to cast their ballots during the governorship elections in the state; according to the Punch newspapers.

Kehinde Yusuf
Until he was six months old, Kehinde Yusuf was like any other toddler. But in 2010, a high fever hit him and is threatening to change the course of his life.
Right now, his parents are hard pressed to pay the N652,000 needed for an urgent surgery.
According to his father, Mr. Isiaka Yusuf, four-year-old Kehinde was rushed to the Ado-Awaye General Hospital, Iseyin, in Oyo State, after a high fever. He said the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Olabode, who attended to the boy, could not find a vein to pass the drip.
“He then decided to shave off Kehinde’s head and passed the drip through his head. The fever went down truly, but we noticed his head started growing bigger after two months. We rushed him back, but the doctor said they were on strike and that we could give him multivitamins,’’ he said.
As directed by the physician, Yusuf and his wife fed the little boy with multivitamins, but the head kept growing bigger.
The confused father told this reporter that he went back to consult with Olabode but was given a variety of excuses at different times and was not allowed to see him.
Rather than try other teaching hospitals, the Yusufs erroneously visited some private clinics and trado-medical hospitals, while their son’s head kept growing bigger.
“It was at the 10th hospital we visited, the Awojobi Trado-Medical Hospital, that we were referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State. That was in 2011. We were given a bill of N175,000 for the surgery.
“We paid the money and the surgery was successful. We noticed that the head stopped growing since then. We are sure of this because we measure the head from time to time,” he explained.
In a letter made available to our correspondent and signed by one Mr. G.F. Logun on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, the UCH diagnosed Kehinde as having post meningitis hydrocephalus. And it was observed that he had “yet to achieve neck control, sit or crawl.”
That is the next battle for Kehinde and his parents. The parents said the little boy has a twin brother, Taiwo, who is already a Nursery 2 pupil.
According to Yusuf, the UCH has asked him to pay N652,000 for a second surgery in order for Kehinde to crawl and walk again.
“The money is beyond me. My son cannot walk or crawl. We prop him every time. He cannot attend school or do other things his brother can do. I am appealing to Nigerians to help us so that Kehinde can walk.”
Yusuf has opened a charity account for his son: Abdur-raheem Kehinde Yusuf, GTBank, 0151945965.

Human skull found in church ceiling

 High court
The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions has said 49-year-old Samson Adeneye and a woman, Oyerinde Olawunmi, 48, have a case to answer in a matter in which a human skull was found in the ceiling of an orthodox church in Lagos.
Two policemen attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office.
PUNCH Metro had reported in July 2013, that a human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim band on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of the state.
Prior to the incident, Adeneye and Olawunmi, who were former members of the band, were said to have sent threat text messages to some of the church’s ministers.
The two suspects were said to have accused the pastors of occultism and threatened to deal with them and kill them.
Both suspects were said to have alerted the two SARS officers that there was a case of gunrunning in the assembly.
The policemen reportedly stormed the assembly without any search warrant and headed for the ceiling where they allegedly found the item.

Over 150 people killed in jos market explotion

Although eyewitnesses account put the death toll at 150, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Olakpe, said that 46 people were killed while 45 others were wounded.
The first bomb, which was said to have been detonated by a suicide bomber in a Fiat car, happened at about 3pm when the market was at its height. The second blast occurred from a Toyota Sienna about 20 metres from the scene of the first.
One of the eyewitnesses said the bomber in the Fiat car stopped it abruptly along the busy Muritala Mohammed Way which is very close to the old site of the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
He was said to have left the car for minutes to cause enough traffic build-up before he returned and detonated the explosives in it. The explosion was heard all over Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
However as people gathered to assist victims, some hoodlums started looting and burning cars. In the course of their action, some youths noticed the Toyota Sienna parked at some distance and went for it.
While trying to vandalise it, one of them put a light under the Sienna and immediately it exploded, killing nearly all those in the vicinity.

201-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg - 201-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg
Boko Haram may have extended its tentacles to neighbouring Niger Republic where some of its leaders have embarked on a recruitment drive, a report by the BBC has indicated.
The report came just as preparations have entered top gear for a meeting of the National Security Council tomorrow in Abuja, which will be presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, the 36 state governors and service chiefs, among others.
The insurgency in the North-east, being waged by the terrorist group, is expected to top the agenda at tomorrow's meeting.
Last week, the meeting had been rescheduled for today, but was postponed for the second time to take place tomorrow.

Saudi Arabia to build world's tallest Tower

 Saudi-2
DUBAI, long champion of all things biggest, longest and most expensive, will soon have some competition from neighboring Saudi Arabia.
Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, could be stripped of its Guinness title if Saudi Arabia succeeds in its plans to construct the even larger Kingdom Tower in Jeddah — a prospect looking more likely as work begins next week, according to Construction Weekly.
